About Us

The Schizophrenia Society of York is an organization at York University dedicated to spreading awareness and humanizing individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia.

What Is Schizophrenia and Why Does It Matter?

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects 1% of the population worldwide. Unfortunately there is no cause or cure for this disorder and anyone can be affected. We at Schizophrenia Society of York want to humanize individuals suffering from schizophrenia and provide a platform to raise awareness.

World Schizophrenia Day

May 24th is World Schizophrenia Day. Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that affects how the brain normally functions. It interferes with the person's ability to act, think and feel. Everyday is a challenge and it is up to us to eliminate the social stigma associated with it!
